In 10 people in the city of Chikungunya are suspected to be infected this year. A large number of people have already been infected with this disease. The outbreak will continue till September. In all, at least 18 lakh people of the city may be affected by this disease.
IEDCR did a survey in mobile phones from mid-June to the first week of July. They collected information of 4,775 people. Of them, 357 were affected by Chikungunya. The rate of attack is 7.7 percent. This number was mentioned in the meeting of the Health Ministry, IEDCR. But the organization has not yet published this result officially. According to this survey, the number of people already infected as the population is 13 lakh 67 thousand.
Former director of IEDCR, Mahmudur Rahman said in the first light that in 2011, two 
polling stations of Chikungunya in Dohar and Shibganj in Chapainawabganj, and 
a survey of Chikungunya with dengue infour police stations of Dhaka city in 2013. 
It can be said from the experience of these surveys that this year 10% 
of the population of Dhaka city may be affected by this disease.
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs's Population Division says
that Dhaka city has a population of 1 crore 82 lakhs 37 thousand. On the basis of
that figure, 10 percent of the total number of people in the city of Dhaka means
that more than 18 lakh 23 thousand people are likely to be affected by chikungunya.The city of Chikungunya has started in Dhaka city since last December. 
It spread widely in April-May this year. The country's top public health experts say 
the situation is an epidemic. But the government has not been able to clarify 
how many people have been affected by this disease so far.
There is no known effective initiative to know the approximate number.
Chikungunya outbreaks occurred in Palpara in Tangail in 2012. Then ICDDRB and IEDCRjointly conducted a survey. In this, 364 people of 460 families were identified 
as infected with 1 thousand 933 people. The rate of infection is around 18 percent.

Chikungunya's patient in almost every family of Dhaka city. All members of any
family are affected. It is said without any risk, that 10 percent people will be

would increase. Because, about 30 percent of the people of Dhaka live in slums.
